American Idol - Special Guest Writer - Meredith
What a treat! we all missed the show and Meredith (even though she was swampd at work) agreed to recap it for us:
So last night the theme was dance songs from the 70's. I knew it was going to be interesting - LOL I also felt REALLY old cause these people didnt seem to know any of these songs I grew up with and danced to.
First up - Constantine singing the the BeeGees "Nights On Broadway". He's wearing this Joh Travolta White Jacket & Black shirt - GEEZ - WIll this song EVER end is all I could keep thinking. LOL I don't know if it was him or the song - but I was thanking god whenit was over. LOL Randy said he was like a vegas act - I think so too.
Also - a side comment here about the little dance moves everyone is doing before they sing - in those little interviews - not such a good idea… nuff said.
Next its Carrie with Donna Summer with MacArthur Park - Yes the song about the cake in the rain that no one EVER understood yet still loved it. Judges thought she was fabulous. I thought she was fabuloous too - but it seemed like she rushed a bit - but maybe it was just me. Her voice was great though.
Scott sang Everlasting Love - cause he momma wanted him too. Yep, he had picked out a different song but his mom asked if that was on the list and if it was would he please sing that. It was good not great. WAY better than last week though.
Anthony sang some song that I dont remember the name of - it was nice - nothing fabulous. WHEN WILL HE LEAVE???
Vonzelle sang Chaka Khan Every Woman - She was really good - I liked that she did something upbeat and she was really good at it. She has redeemed herself a bit with me. Although one thing I didnt like about her performance was that you could hear the backup singers more than her. Sometimes I couldnt tell if it was even her singing - I saaw her lips moving - but wasnt sure it was her… LOL
Anwar sang September. It was ok. It was great. I agree with Chenita & Juanita - the man has no rythym. I really like his voice and I know he will be gone soon. But I hope Anthony goes first.
Bo was the final singer. He sang Vehicle by the Ides of March. I'm sorry. If any of you people don't agree that this was by far the best performance of the night - then you are crazy. He was fabulous. Yes - he has some fetish about the stupid microphone stand but I had to wholeheartedly agree with Simon. It was the only truly authentic performance that night. I'd like Bo to win. He probably won't - just because of the audience who watches idol. I mean - come on - ANTHONY is still in the competition for god's sake. But on a different note - it would actually probably be better for him to NOT win. He could get a better contract on his own.
Anyway - That's the Idol commentary from Meredith this week - since everyone seemed to miss it. LOL
She told me that it was up to me to recap the boot off, but I'm afraid I won't do it justice since I didn't see the show. I have it on tape and will do it this weekend. L

Since we were all useless this week lol I wish I saw Anwar sing September!! That is the most requested song on our playlist on S.I. lol and on my ringtones.
OH.. and thank you soooooo much for looking up GaryGnu and The Great Space Coaster that was sooooo awesome (so 80's) to see again - I could'nt totally (another 80's word)remember what GaryGnu looked like exactly but I never forgot his slogan lol Love ya! Fla XOXO

Fla - I don't think you really missed much with Monday's show. In my opinion Anwar, Carrie (whom I Love) and Constantine should have been in the bottom 3. Instead it was Anwar, Scott and Anthony.
Constantine is starting to get a little cocky with his swarmy looks he gives to the camera - Ewwww - I want him gone
Carrie - who I love has absolutely no stage presence and she managed to take an upbeat song and slow it down - I was for sure the judges were going to give her hell for it, but they didn't. They Loved her.
Scott - was pretty good, I LOved his comment about his Momma telling him to sing Everlasting Love.
Anthony - Actually picked a good song to sing to. I agree with Paula - his best performance yet
Anwar - I think like Anthony he picked a very good song. I think he did a pretty decent job, but there was something that was a little off about his performance
Bo - I agree with you Mere on this. He totally redeemed himself from last week. He did a good job with this, although the carrying of the Microphone just annoys me.
BTW - Fla, did you read my sister's comments from the other weeks - hysterical
Linda, Linda-doo where are you? (say while humming to the Scooby, Scooby-do theme song) Don't let us down for next week :(
I forgot to write about Vonzell. One thing about her performance which I agree (AGAIN) with Meredith is the fact that we heard the back-up singers more than Vonzell. Seems a bit shady to me - Don't you think?
Woohoo - Juanita agrees with me!!! Yeah - I thought the whole Vonzelle was a little shady too. And I agree with you about Constantine just getting more smarmy every week!
