Country nite

I'm gonna make a prediction here... Juanita's gonna hate this nite! LOL

Kenny Rogers is their 'tutor' for the show. And Taylor Hicks started us off with Take Me Home Country Roads. He changed it up, but only in strange places. I liked the original better. Plus he seemed to be straining his voice. Didn't love it. I woulda picked another song. There are tons of country songs and he picks one from 1970?

Mandisa looked sassy and coy as she sang Any Man of Mine. I think she did a great job. She picked a fun song and sang it adorably. Apparently, the judges completely disagreed with me. lol

Elliot sang If Tomorrow Never Comes. Color me crazy - ok, well, Chenita already does - but is Elliot looking better - less creepy?? I think he did a great job, too. I like the little changes he made to the song. It was sweet. I think Kenny Roger's advice was spot on.

Paris put away the hair extensions for the night. and Ryan even commented on it. She said that each hair style shows a different side of her. I think she needs to pick one friggin side. She sang How Do I Live Without You. that's a country song? Isn't that Celine Dion? Maybe she heard 'country' and thought well, Canada is another country. Or is it Toni Braxton? Maybe California's another country. who knows. Anyway, it was kinda forgettable for me.

Ace is singing I Wanna Cry. He may be crying himself off the stage tomorrow night. I have no clue what this song is. He's the weakest link. His voice is shaky in parts and he's not hitting the low, steady notes. As he holds up his hand to indicate 'call in for #5' I can't help but notice that he's got big ole hands.

Kelly's breasts are practically pouring out. She's singing Fancy - I don't know this song either. oh, I guess I DO know this song. She's good with spunky songs.

Right about now, Juanita's pretending that Ryan needs her so she can skip the rest of the night. LOL. Chenita's just gotten home and is using toothpicks to hold her eyes open. And Flavia went to sleep cuz she could care less about Country.

Chris is next. I can't wait to hear what he does! He has great control over his voice. And this song really shows that he doesn't have to only do the hard rock type songs. I think this is sexier than when he shouts and jumps all over the stage. I loved it even tho I didn't know the song. I literally COLed (Clapped out loud). I still think he should win.

Katherine I suppose the name of this song is Bringing Out the Elvis in Me. ??? I don't know it. It was ok, didn't bowl me over, but she's cute and fun.

did anyone notice the pianist looked like Clay Aiken? LOL

Bucky - is that a country song? I woulda thought he'd pick a more country song on the one night he could. Best I Ever Had -- isn't that a song by Vertical Horizon? I love the song and I think he did a good job. I liked his outfit - but whats up with the bazillion earrings?

I think the worse TONIGHT for me, were Ace, Taylor and Paris.
My favorites were Mandisa, Elliot, Chris

but tonight, its anyone's game.

You posted twice woman! LOL

Yeah- last week and this week - no one was really bowling me over.

I agree with Linda about Chris though - sexy man - love him, loved the change of pace.

There are sooooo many more fun country songs - why is everyone signing ballads? I agree with Simon - I'm getting bored - I want some fun, fabulous songs dadgummit!

Anyway… I don;t know who will be in the bottom 3 this week. I really like Katherine for some reason but I think she will probably be in the bottom 3, possibly bucky because of statistics - LOL and who knows who the 3rd will be.

I'm just waiting for the next fabulous performance…

Yes - This night sucked big toes.
On that note....

Taylor - I felt he could've done so much with this song but held back.

Mandisa - Another boring song pick. Is it me or does she appear slimmer? I've notice that the camera always show Mandisa from shoulder up. And when they do show her full body it is always from a far away shot.

Elliot - I felt because of Kenny Rogers comments it made Elliot hold back on the song. I didn't care for his performance and NO, Lin I still think he looks Creepy.

Paris - I was excited to hear that she was going to sing "How do I Live w/o you" I love that song. And Btw Lin the artist who sings the song is Leanne Rimes. (Celion Dion, where did you pull that one from - haha) I was very disappointed in her version. She appeared shaky and I compeltely agree with Paula that she didn't connect with the song. But Simon Loved it - Go figure. I bet he will take back his words tonight after watching the playback.

Ace - I actally liked the softness in his song. But, we have to face it - He is the weakest singer out of the bunch and no way that him hitting the falsetto notes are going to keep him in the competition. BTW - Do you think Ryan mentioned his single status at the end was an attempt to get votes in Ace's way?

Kelly - She was the only one I liked tonight. But like Paula said "she was in her element and doing country was her thing". I thought it was funny that she was busted for "Acting dumb" to get votes. There is a picture of her floating on the web showing the not so innocent Kelly at her junior prom. check out the picture at: http://wbli.com/morningshow/picklerdress.html.

Chris - I liked his performance because it was a nice change for him and still showed that he can sing.

Katherine - Like her, but I think she is digging herself in the bottom 3 pretty fast because of her song picks. She has an amazing voice, but she picks horrible songs.

Bucky - Was ok and did well for his genre, but I still think he can leave the show w/o missing him.

My choice for bottom 3 - Ace, Katherine and Bucky.

Oh if you are interested check this link to see Kevin Covias, Elliot and Bucky when they were babies.

Did anyone notice the idols had no reaction when Kenny Rogers walked in on them during their rehearsal? I don't think they had any idea who he was! Just some gray-haired man singing along with them. LOL Anyway, that was my impression.

Taylor - Didn't love it either. Although he sang fine, he just looked uncomfortable and didn't show off his personality.

Mandisa - The curly hair suits her perfectly! The song however did not. She definitely had lots of spunk and a great voice but the performance was alright.

Elliot - I thought he looked uncomfortable too. I thought he oversang in some parts of the song but did ok.

Paris - I was excited to hear this song because quite frankly, it was the only song I knew. It IS a country song by Trisha Yearwood which Leann Rimes later remade to a contemporary version. I thought Paris would have pulled this song off easy but surprisingly, the song was way too big for her! She did not perform well last night but I did like her hair sans extensions. I personally think she should leave it that way.

Ace - I actually liked his performance last night. Yes, it was shaky in parts but at least he attempted to connect with the song where the other idols before him did not. As a result, I think it worked in his favor.

Kelly - Although,I really don't get her song choices she seemed the most comfortable of all the idols last night.

Chris - Seemed to have followed Simon's advice this week by changing it up to a ballad. Makes me wonder if Simon hadn't made that comment would Chris have chosen to "Rock" on in the country genre? Well, once again, he was my favorite male performer because he had great control, didn't oversing and appeared to connect with the song. (Which Ace, Taylor, Elliot & Bucky failed to do)

Katherine - Pretty girl with a great voice but her song selections are simply horrible. I think she jeopardizes her chances of going further in the competition by selecting these obscure songs. It makes her performances not stand out and very forgettable.

Bucky - Like Kelly, should do well in this genre. I personally don't think he did. He was better at the very tail end of the song. I think the judges were extremely nice to him.

Highlight of the night: Paula FINALLY getting BOOED by the audience!!!!

My bottom 3: Paris, Bucky & Katherine.
