Top 20 - The Girls
So, I've become such a slave to the DVR that watching an entire show - with commercials - is like torture to me. So I've devised workarounds. I'm watching Show 1 until commercial then moving to Show 2, until commercial, then back again. Its wonderful! LOL
Anyway, first up is Catherine (the girl that Mike's friends know). She (as I've said before) looks like a prettier Katie Holmes. She chose a Stevie Wonder song that I don't recognize. She has a lovely voice, but the song choice was kinda lame. But she was very gracious in the way she accepted her criticisms, and I have a lot of respect for that.
Then came Kinnick Skye, who sang a Gretchen Wilson song. (Who?) I wish Mike had never said that comment about her looking like she used to be a man, cuz now, that's all that I can think of. She isn't cute, her voice isn't bowling me over. She can go. Randy enjoyed her entertainment... not so much for me. hmmm Simon says she reminds him of a theme park entertainer -- I think I agree. And... that cowboy hat really accentuates her gigantic forehead. Yikes.
16 year old Lisa Tucker, in her interview explained that she was in the Lion King as a child. That must've been what gave her the composure that she has. She is very mature for her age. I think I liked her better than Randy did. I didn't really know the song, although the chorus was familiar. I think she is adorable, though.
Melissa McGhee sings Reba. Her voice sounds older than she is, too. Perhaps its the raspiness. But its really distracting that they keep panning back and forth to the back-up singers. Stay put, camera guys! And I agree with Simon again... I don't think I'm connecting with her. But I did like her singing this song.
ok - not that you guys need to know this, but my alternating show thing is bugging Mike, so, thank God I've got room to fast forward.
Heather Cox - the American Idol Stalker. Apparently, the Itas know this label. I don't. Was it self imposed? Is it a gimmick to get her noticed? I don't get it. She chose Hero from Mariah Carey. That's an ambitious song. Something about her bothers me. I don't know what. She didn't butcher the song, surprisingly, but it also didn't bowl me over. And the fact that she keeps responding when Paula's talking is annoying me. Maybe its being in the third trimester, but enough with the judges bickering.
Oh God, Brenna is next. and Oh My, she's gonna sing Last Dance. She's standing on the stage like a truck driver posing like a woman. And... what's she doing to the song? Please kick her off. Why, oh, Why isn't there a number to call if you want to boot someone off? America, please vote for everyone BUT her! Her fake pout is annoying too. wait... most of her is annoying. I soooo agree with Simon. The entire performance was poor.
Paris is up next. She's really young, too, right? The Wind Beneath My Wings is one of my favorite songs. I can picture her doing a good job with this song. It started out a bit safe and boring but she brought it out with a strong finish. Her Minnie Mouse voice cracks me up when she speaks.
Ayla is taking on an ambitious CelineDion song. I'm not feelin' it. I could see her or the blond go - aside from Brenna, that is. I might have nodded off. Apparently the judges liked her. Ahhh - maybe Simon pinpointed it for me -- she's a bit mechanical.
Kellie - who I like alot and found her interview adorable! She broke out in a Bonnie Raitt song... another one of my favorite songs. It was good. Maybe I'm just tired. It was good, but I thought she could have taken it further.
and finally - Mandisa. She's gonna sing Cry by Faith Hill. Hate the muffin-top hair do. The tendrils look like skinny little snakes. And... I don't know this song. But her voice is pretty amazing. I wish I knew this song.
Overall, the women were kinda disappointing me. I think that I expected more or better from all of them.
My picks for booting are Brenna (please, please, please) and possibly Heather or Ayla.

So - still no girls that really excite me. Mandisa does have a great voice though.
I still think Katherine has a great voice but didnt particularly like this song. I hope she doesn't get booted just for that performance, I'd like to see what she'll do in the future.
And for god's sakes - what's with one pose Brenna? Geez woman, you are annoying- and I LOVED the comment about how she is the female Simon. LOL I'm with all of you on hoping she is booted next week!
I must say that I like Melissa's performance tonight and I would tie her with Kinnick for the last girl's position in the top 12. I'm sticking with the other 5 for now.
So last night were the girls.. they were al'ight... nothing to write home about(if i lived far from home)my top 3 would be Paris, Katherine and Kelly (Love her)such a country girl killing the word Calamari lol Got to Go bye bye Brenna Ugly annoying Brenna did i mention horse smile annnoying and obnoxious Brenna and second to go Cowgirl (who does her make-up) and now you have me looking at her as a man in drag lol
First of all I am very impressed by the fact that Meredith was the first one to post on a 3 hour delay.
Katherine - I was expecting a lot from her because of the judges comments last week. Her performance was boring and was not impressed by her singing at all.
Kinnick - I agree with Simon - Her performace was something you'd see at Disney land. She can definitely go this week.
Lisa Tucker - I loved her audition, but sadly she hasn't impressed me since then. I think she played it safe and isn't showing the audience her potential. I think she has anything to worry about - she will be in the top 12.
Melissa - I don't like her, but she had one of the best performance last night.
Heather Cox- Hero by Mariah Carey - You've got to be kidding. Did she really think she had the vocals to pull off that song. I think I could have sang the song just as good as she did if not better.
Brenna - OMG - She is so obnoxious and annoying. Firstly, what was she thinking when she put that hideous green dress on. ugh. Secondly, Did anyone notice the pointed "V" (Eddie Munster hairline) It was so distracting. As far as her performance goes She SUCKED. Bye, Bye Brenna
Paris - I think Paris played it safe too. Obviously the girl can sing, but her performance was boring. I agree with Simon, I think it was too old for her.
Ayla - I liked her performance, contray to Linda. What impressed me the most was that she can take a song like Celine and Christina Aguilera and not over perform it. I can tell by Simon's comments that he doesn't care for her. I think it is funny because every season there is always one person that Simon can't stand. My prediction is that she will continue to do well and Simon will continue to find something to put her down.
Kellie - OMG, I was totally thinking of Flavia when she said "Calamari" I could totally see Fla squirm in her seat. (LOL) I agree her interview was cute and I did like her peformance - It was the best out of all the girls. After all 3 judges agreeded that she was cute as a button and very likable I found that she started playing it up more. I was like Enough already. Did anyone feel the same way?
Mandisa - What the hell was with the MOo -MOO and the bun hairdo. She of all people should not try up-do's becuase it makes her look older than she already looks. She definitely has a good voice, but wasn't crazy about her performance either.
Overrall, I think the girls were not impressive. My thoughts on who should get the boot: Brenna and Kinnick or Heather Cox.
Well, last night I watched Idol on my VCR, forwarded all the commercials and -- ok, so I'm not cool like Lin and her DVR! - LOL But that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone since I'm the only person in the universe who doesn't have cable!!
I digress, last night's Idol show was a real SNOOZE FEST! Not one girl kicked it into gear to WOW us.
Catherine - I think she is a really sweet girl and is one of the odds on favorite for the top 10 but she still has not impressed me yet. She definitely has a great voice, her song choices thus far have been pretty lame and I just don't think she has SHONE like a star. Anyone agree or am I the alone on this?
Kinnick - Has a good voice but what bothers me about her is the drastic song/wardrobe choices. The 1st show she was dressed in a gown belting out a song and last night she is a cowgirl!?!? Because of these extremes she will never have a true following (fan base) therefore, will probably not make it to the finals.
Lisa Tucker - She sang En Vogue/Jackson 5 song - I personally thought the song was way too big for her. She started out shaky but ended the song nicely.
Melissa McGhee - Has a good voice but something about her is VERY unforgettable. Maybe it's her song choices or perhaps like Simon said she isn't connecting with the audience.
Heather Cox - The moniker "AI Stalker" was self-imposed. Heather sang Hero by Mariah because no Idol contestants has ever performed it. Although she didn't butcher the song, I agree with the judges that she PALED in comparison. DUH! If you can't sing like Mariah or top her don't attempt her songs and if you do then you're basically setting yourself for a fall.
Brenna - First, I'll say -- still cant stand her and NO America does not LOVE your smile! I personally didn't think her performance was as bad as the judges said it was. I think they REALLY want her out and are trying to influence the audience to give her the boot - STAT! I'm not worried if she does survive another week because her end is inevitable but the rest of the girls are not sealing her quick departure from their own lackluster performances.
Paris - Not really much to say about her. She sang the song well and by far had the best vocals.
Ayla - She sang a Celine Dion song? I didn't recognize it. The song suited her & she sang it well. She definitely holds her own but I don't see her going too far especially when the judges paint her as this extremely ambitious girl who manages to excel at every thing she does. This may turn people off.
Kelly - She is my favorite. She is definitely infectious. I loved her song choice and thought she did really well. Having said that, I agree with Simon if she wasn't so likeable her performance would be considered average.
Mandisa - Negatives: Did not like her hair, clothes and felt she was screaming rather than singing. Positives: Although, not her best performance she does have a great voice & personality and I predict will go to the top 10.
Overall, the girls were a BIG disappointment. In the beginning of the show Ryan said the judges were on different pages. Last night, they were all finally on the same page (as Simon - tee hee) and I agreed 100%.
Will 2 girls be ousted again? If so, I predict Heather/Brenna but will not be surprised if Kinnick/Melissa are Idols next victims.
Ok, I'm picking on my sister's spelling errors:
Firstly!?, Contray!?, Agreeded!? -ok, I'm done - LOL Seriously, I agree that Kelly was playing it up a bit.
Oh and how many finalist are there, 10 or 12?

1) What do you mean, Juanita, that you're all impressed with Meredith? She wrote 3 paragraphs! I friggin' commented on EACH performance! Give credit where its due, dude!
2) Although I'm very pleased that Mere blogs so early so Juanita can get her blog/Idol fix at 8:30 AM when we're all still making our way to work.
3) I pretty much agree with everything Chenita said. The Brenna comment, the Heather comment, the Melissa comment the Kinnick and most of the others. Please don't tell me we're morphing into one person. say it ain't so.

5) for the record - and of no relation to AI - I have to comment on Flavia and Chenita's 'intervention' in my office yesterday. I am very happy to report that it backfired and actually really just pointed out how anal and how much of a control freak CHENITA is. I know that their intention was to make me feel badly about not wanting to be surprised by my shower. But after a millisecond of discussion it was SOOO apparent that Chenita would be so much worse. So there. and that's all.
Correction on my comment - Melissa is VERY "forgettable", not "unforgettable" but I'm sure everyone understood what I meant.
So, I go into Lin's office and she said I won for best blog today and rewarded me with chocolates and for the first time she didn't complain that I took more than 1. LOL
Nice work, Lin for quickly deflecting yesterdays impromptu intervention. Some day you'll come to terms and admit that you too are a control freak. I should know after all, it takes one to know one.

In response to my being eerily quiet after my usual cup of Joe'... I feel horrible..I am going on 4hrs sleep and I have the chills on & off so after that being said Chenita you are correct - you are not the weakest link... digressing to this stupid game show but it does take one Control freak to spot another lol
and there are 10 contestants not 12..and I do believe the boys will blow the girls away and Question: Do they still have to drop one of each gender every week or can two girls go at once saving the guys..??
Yeah - I think we all agree that none of the girls are all that great.
Are you guys crazy to even go into the whole surprise party thing with Linda - haven't you learned yet????? Come on - do you want her to kill you or what? LOL
